Lead Extraction

The Extor Set is a sterile complete instrument set for minimally invasive removal of implanted intracardiac pacemaker and defibrillator leads that have become infected and/or ineffective.
Extor can be used for all pacemaker and defibrillator leads with an internal coil diameter of 0.44 to 1.3 mm, irrespective of the number of coils. The Extor extraction stylet is inserted through the lumen of the lead and fixated at the lead tip. The Extor applies the extraction forces directly at the lead tip.

The accessories for the Extor Set consist of various version of sheaths. With the sheaths, wich are pushed over the lead, adhesions with the vascular wall or fibrotic adhesions on the lead can be loosened.

The system for removing implanted intracardiac pacemaker and defibrillator leads may be indicated in the following cases:

  • Infection of pacemaker pocket or along lead and/or in the event of sepsis
  • Inacceptable increase of pacing threshold, or sensing loss
  • Other reasons which would make removal of an implanted lead necessary
